Board Meeting Minutes |

President Marisel Brown called the Board meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.
Trustees Doggett, Hughes, McLeod and Quinn were absent from the meeting.
The minutes of the 980th meeting held December 14, 2011 were reviewed and approved (Prola/Washburn – unanimous).
Review of the warrants dated December 15, 2011 numbering 030212 through 032112 amounting to $81,198.60 and warrants dated December 31, 2011 numbering 032212 through 035212 amounting to $129,327.41. Trustee Barbara Halliday commented on the lack of documentation on the warrant for purchasing a truck on the December 31st warrants, the bid with the cost of the vehicle and equipment should have been included with the warrant request.
The Board approved participation in a Coastal Region CEQA project with Cardno Entrix (Spinola/Washburn – unanimous).
District Mechanical Specialist Greg Wood discussed problems with finding three bidders for an ARGO trailer and wanted approval to alter the purchasing policy requiring the three bids but he was able to get the additional bid so there was no need for Board action.
Board members continued the discussion on the use and possible purchase of tablet computers for Board members. The Board tabled the discussion for the present time (Bray/Prola – unanimous).
District Entomologist Bruce Kirkpatrick presented the Monthly Operational Report for December The District received a total of 11 requests for service during the month. There were 4 mosquito-biting reports. The ten-year average for adult mosquito service requests in December is 4.9. 4 requests for mosquitofish were received and 1 request for inspection of potential mosquito sources.
The Board received written updates from the District Manager on several other outside agencies:
Alameda County Chapter of the CSDA – met at Skywest Golf Course in Hayward, a HARD golf course at earlier in the day. There were several guest speakers, Kim Huggett, President of Hayward Chamber of Commerce, Sean Brooks, Economic Development Manager for City of Hayward, and Teresa Cox, Trade Advisor to Obama Administration speaking on Regional Growth Opportunities in the current economy. The annual Dinner meeting is March 29th at the Marriott in Pleasanton.
Mosquito and Vector Control Association of California (MVCAC) – The MVCAC annual conference will be held at the Burlingame Hyatt Regency, January 29 – February 1, 2012.
The Manager also reported that the annual audit is nearing completion and a draft should be available prior to the February 8th Board meeting.
The nominating committee presented a slate of officers to serve in 2012 comprised of President – Jan Washburn, Vice-President – Jim Prola and Secretary – Barbara Halliday (Washburn/Spinola – unanimous).
President Washburn asked if there were any items to add to agenda for the next Board meeting on January 11th, hearing none, the meeting was adjourned at 5:45 p.m.
